The Right Method for the Question
The strongest insight does not come from forcing every challenge into the same method. It comes from choosing the approach that best fits the question, the decision at stake, and the level of confidence required.
At Narriva, we work across qualitative, quantitative, and conversational approaches, and often combine them in thoughtful ways. Sometimes that means going deep with one method. Sometimes it means integrating methods to bring together context, measurement, and real human response.
Just as importantly, we believe in keeping research appropriately scoped. The right approach is not always the most elaborate one. It should be fit for purpose, practical to execute, and designed to deliver clarity without unnecessary complexity or cost.
What This Can Look Like in Practice
Quantitative research, sharpened by human context
A quantitative study may establish the size of an opportunity, the strength of a concept,
or the profile of an audience. A small number of human-led qualitative conversations can
then help explain the why behind the patterns, adding depth without overcomplicating the design.
Conversational research, strengthened by targeted follow-up
AI-led conversational research can create structured dialogue at scale, surfacing reactions,
themes, and emotional patterns across a broader audience. In some cases, a targeted set of
human-led interviews can deepen understanding where more nuance is needed, rather than expanding
the entire design.
Human-led exploration, validated through focused measurement
Early-stage qualitative work may surface unmet needs, tensions, or whitespace opportunities.
A focused quantitative read can then help determine how broadly those ideas hold and where the
strongest opportunities exist, creating confidence without unnecessary over-engineering.
Conversational and quantitative approaches used together
Conversational methods can surface richer, more contextualized responses, while quantitative
measurement helps assess consistency, scale, and relative strength. Together, they provide a more
complete picture while remaining efficient and decision-oriented.
The common thread is not a single platform or methodology. It is thoughtful design. We help clients determine when one method is enough, when multiple methods should work together, and how to build an approach that is rigorous, practical, and right-sized for the decision at hand.
